It is a great honour to have been asked to show my watercolour paintings at Rothe House, Kilkenny. The exhibition will run from 1st to the 13th September 2021. This will in fact be my first solo exhibition, and I am very excited about it.
TCAF21 / Kilkenny Arts Week
It is four weeks to go to the opening of Arts Week, and we are all excited about exhibiting again after so long in lockdown. If everything goes according to plan, I will be exhibiting my paintings in the Community Hall in Thomastown, County Kilkenny. My exhibition is called ‘Water in Watercolour’, and opens on the 6th August and runs to the 15th. 11am to 6pm each day.
There will be six or seven artists showing their work in the Hall, and many others at various venues in the town. Do come along , it will be a nice day out.
My previous exhibition(2019) was called Irish Coastal Landscapes, and that really describes what I do. I have also some river scenes (the Barrow) this time. I will be hanging about 20 framed paintings, all watercolours, and I will have some unframed paintings with me as well.
Arts Week ’21
It looks like Arts Week 21 will go ahead. Great! I hope to exhibit my paintings as part of the AKA / TCAF initiative in early August. As of yet I don’t have a venue, but watch this space.
Changes
I think its fair to say that 2020 was a year of changes, and 2021 will no doubt continue the process of change. As well as the pandemic and all it brought, 2020 saw the death of my mother, my retirement from ‘working’ life and a serious back operation. So, 2021 sees me in a different space, the positive is that I have more time to paint, and more time to work at showing my work.
Lockdown
Who would have guessed we’d have a lockdown like this. Not me! No galleries open, no exhibitions scheduled, nothing! This is time to get real about digital marketing. The only place available to show my work is online. Check out instagram (booley_art) or facebook (booleyart or Micheal O Fearghail) – but this is not enough. I must develop a comprehensive digital marketing strategy. Watch this space.
Home Gallery
I am not using this website that much at the moment. I am posting my work each week on facebook (Micheal O Fearghail) and on instagram (booley_art). Consequently I am not selling that much art at the moment, though the summer exhibitions were good for me. I have decided to create a gallery space at home, really to protect my framed work – they’re safer on the wall than lying around in my studio. So this is my HOME GALLERY. If you wish to view my work send me an email, and we can arrange something. My home is near Kilkenny, in Ireland. Eventually I will get this website sorted, and it will be more functional.
Closing
Just a note of thanks to Nancy Paton, to Chrissy Shanahan and everyone involved in organising TCAF19. I was great to be involved. Thanks to my co-exhibitors in the Den – Mairead, Janet, Megumi, Fran, Evelyn, Nicola, Chloe and Lee. I hope to be back next year , hopefully with a new range of paintings – working on those right now.
Opening
Tomorrow – 9th August – Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny.
TCAF19 – Thomastown Creative Arts Festival –
Many (wine assisted) openings on the schedule – check TCAF19 on FB.

Scarecrows at THE GALLERY
The Durrow Scarecrow Festival 2019 is in full swing. It ends on the Bank Holiday Monday. Don’t miss it. There is an Art Exhibition in the Community Hall on the Kilkenny Road – see five of my paintings in there. Lots of other lovely work also. Well worth a visit. If you like my stuff – a bigger selection will be on display in the Scouts Den in Thomastown during Arts Week (8th -18th August), under the banner of TCAF19, Thomastown Creative Arts Festival.
